We opened our first HGI location in 2021, but our roots in Wisconsin’s grocery industry run deep. In over 70 years of business, we’ve crafted a people-first culture, and we know how to win in Wisconsin business. We’ve learned what shoppers want and need, and that there’s a difference between the two. Many of the extra services common to larger grocery stores, such as full-service meat and deli departments, require lots of square footage. They simply wouldn’t fit in our smaller-footprint HGI stores.

What’s more, our network of stores provides a built-in backup system of inter-store support, so when one store needs extra staffing or stock is running low, a “sister” store can send reinforcements of people or product. It’s the best of both worlds – the feel of a neighborhood store and strength in numbers.
